VARIATIONS

PCV valves and crankcase filters differ in size and location. The flow capacity or performance requirements of both are not stated, so you must use the valve or filter recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. Crankcase breather filters are usually found inside the air cleaner or directly on a valve cover opening. The PCV valve is generally mounted directly on one valve cover or in a vacuum line from the valve cover to the carburetor or throttle body. Crankcase breather filters are either made of foam or corrugated paper.
